SPEED & STABILITY TIPS

3 Tips to Maximise Speed and Stability

TIP 1

Internet feels slower than it should?

Here are some simple checks to help you identify what's causing speed issues

Connect your laptop to the main router using a LAN cable and run a speed test using Speedtest by Ookla

Use 5GHz for better performance — ideal for streaming, calls, and gaming

Switch to 2.4GHz for better range in far rooms

Limit connected devices — too many can slow down your speed

Mesh systems connected via 2.4GHz may show slower speeds

Restart your setup in this order: modem → router → mesh unit

Avoid placing mesh units or routers in enclosed or cluttered spaces

TIP 2

Improve your WiFi coverage at home

Check out these placement tips to eliminate weak signals and dead zones

Place your router in a central, elevated, and open location

Avoid interference — steer clear of walls, microwaves, and cordless phones

Add mesh units in large homes to extend coverage

Position mesh units between router and weak zones for best signal relay

Keep devices off the floor — ensure open space above for signal flow

Avoid placing routers or mesh units near interference or heat sources

TIP 3

Need high Internet performance for gaming and streaming?

Upgrade to CelcomDigi Fibre-To-The-Room for the strongest, most reliable connection

FTTR brings fibre cables directly into your room

Get full plan speed — no lag, no buffering, no drop-offs

Perfect for gaming, 4K streaming, and working from home

Delivers up to 1Gbps per room using ultra-fine, flexible fibre cables

Upgrade your router or plan to unlock peak performance

Older devices that only support 2.4GHz can slow down your connection. For smoother streaming and gaming, consider upgrading your router or plan.

HACK 1

Fix slow speed test results

Why is my Internet slower than what I subscribed to?

  • 2.4GHz WiFi is slower than 5GHz — switch to 5GHz for faster speeds
  • Too many connected devices can reduce your overall bandwidth
  • Poor router placement affects performance — keep it central and elevated
  • Mesh units may default to 2.4GHz between nodes, not reflecting full speed
  • Use a LAN cable and run a test on Speedtest by Ookla to check your actual speed
  • Internet still slow? Contact your device manufacturer for further troubleshooting

HACK 2

No Internet even when connected? Boost your WiFi signal

Try these quick reboots and checks:

Step 1: Turn off your modem, router, and mesh units. Wait 1 min, then turn them back on in this order: modem → router → mesh

Step 2: Check that all power cables are securely connected

Step 3: Check for red or blinking lights on modem/router — they usually mean there's a problem. Don’t press the reset button unless advised

Step 4: Using a mesh system? Re-sync the units if you see blinking red lights

Step 5: Still offline? Check your line status in the MyDigi or Celcom Life app. If your account is suspended, settle any outstanding balance and try again

  • Make sure WiFi is enabled on the device
  • Restart both the device and your router
  • Check for and install any firmware or software updates
  • Try switching between 2.4GHz and 5GHz networks
  • If possible, connect using a LAN cable for better stability
  • Still having issues? Reach out to the device manufacturer for support

Can’t access certain websites

Internet works but some sites won’t load? Try these fixes:
